Rules for free parking in San Jose:
Free parking near Interstate 280: After 6pm on weekdays, as well as Saturday and Sunday all day, parking is free at the South First Area (SoFa) lot under Interstate 280.
Free parking at the City Hall Employee Garage: Fourth and St. John Garage allows free public parking weekdays from 6-10PM, and on weekends from 6 AM– 10 PM.
Free parking for low emissions vehicles: If you drive a vehicle that qualifies for the California Air Resources Board Green or White State of California Carpool lane sticker, you could score free parking at meters and certain garages.
Free parking for business owners: If you sign a new business lease downtown, the city will award you free parking. Existing business owners can get half-price parking for up to two years at participating city lots and garages.
